Introducing the "RYOBI 524HXXP" an affordable offset press
featuring sophisticated functions

Based on the construction, function and operation of the well-reputed RYOBI 524HXX, this RYOBI 524HXXP has been developed to add a convertible perfecting device that allows perfecting in a single sheet pass. In this convertible perfecting device, the changeover between straight printing and perfecting is full-automatic by touch panel operation at the delivery side, and it takes only about 1 minute. The maximum printing speed is 13,000 sheets per hour for both straight printing and perfecting. The newly developed convertible perfecting mechanism with the unique 3-drum arrangement (double-triple-double transfer drum) guarantees high quality outputs for diversified paper stocks and printing materials. Of course, the press incorporates numerous automatic features such as RYOBI semiautomatic plate changer, RYOBI AAC, RYOBI Program Inking, automatic cleaning devices and so on, which are all found in the existing RYOBI 524HXX to greatly reduce the downtime for changing jobs.

Semiautomatic plate changer
The standard semiautomatic plate changer allows the plate to be changed easily and accurately with simple push button operation. When using together with the optional high-precision register punches RYOBI RP520-425F or RYOBI RP740-425AUTO, accurate, efficient punching further increases the accuracy of the registration by the plate changer. Also, there is no need to bend the leading edge or the tail edge of the plate. This function allows plates to be changed easily and accurately even by semiskilled operators, thereby drastically reducing the make-ready time and improving the productivity.

The RYOBI AAC, aqua automatic control system, is standard feature that enables the automatic dampening supply control onto the plate with the high-precision aqua film sensor.
Printing control system RYOBI PCS-H

The RYOBI PCS-H, printing control system, remotely controls the delicate balance between ink and water to realize the highest printing quality. Plus, it allows micro registration adjustments to be performed remotely, helping to shorten make-ready time prior to actual printing. Also, it can save and call up printing data, shortening make-ready time prior to actual printing for repeat jobs.

The RYOBI Program Inking
The RYOBI Program Inking automatically supplies ink to the ink rollers to match the image from the very start of printing. After pre-set number of prints is finished, the ink on the rollers is automatically restored to an even state, allowing the operator to proceed quickly to the next job.
Image area ratio data is calculated by Ink Volume Setter software using the PostScript data created on Macintosh or Windows computers and converted by using the RYOBI PCS-H to preset the ink fountain keys. Plus, with CIP3/CIP4 (PPF)-compatible Ink Volume Setter-CIP4(PPF) software, image area ratio data can be calculated from PPF files. These two solutions that integrate the prepress and press process allow for quicker and more efficient setup prior to production printing, greatly reducing the burden placed on the operator.

Automatic ink roller and blanket cylinder cleaning devices reduce the time and effort involved in cleaning and changing jobs, reducing the burden on the operator.

The optional RYOBI PDS printing density control system measures the color bar of the printed sheet using the sensors in a spectrophotometer. This system measures the deviation between the printing density of the OK sheet and the printed sheets, and then feeds back the data to the RYOBI PCS-H to adjust the ink fountain keys automatically. By mounting the extra connection kit (option), the RYOBI PDS can be connected to a maximum of 6 printing presses with the RYOBI PCS-H. The RYOBI PDS allows numerical printing control for consistent printing quality. A simplified version, the RYOBI PDS-E is also available. (The RYOBI PDS-E uses a manual scan densitometer that measures the solid density of the color bar on the printed sheet as a basis of quality control.)

The perfecting device features the following.

The RYOBI 524HXXP features a 3-drum convertible perfecting system that allows reliable paper transport and perfecting jobs. It can output up to 13,000 sheets per hour even for perfecting. The 2nd transfer drum is equipped with the paper tail edge suction mechanism, which uses air suction to hold the paper tail edges. This mechanism assures stable sheet feeding and consistent printing quality during perfecting.

3-transfer drum configuration, consisting of a double diameter transfer drum, a triple diameter transfer drum, and another double diameter transfer drum, has been already adopted in the 524HXX. Since a large-curvature of double or triple diameter drum is adopted, this configuration is ideal for thick paper transport and preventing occurrence of marking. The impression cylinder that follows the convertible perfecting cylinder use a jacket with a specially processed surface. This prevents damage that may occur on the back side of paper, guaranteeing superb print quality even when perfecting. The delivery section features a newly movable Decurling device and a blower device.

The cylinder arrangement is the same as in the RYOBI 524HXX, so the total length of the RYOBI 524HXXP, including the perfecting device, is still about the same as RYOBI 524HXX.

The minimum paper size for perfecting is 100 x 150 mm, the same as the existing RYOBI 524HXX. Even postcard size printing is possible. This paper size is the smallest in its class for a press with a perfecting device.

The operator enters the paper size data into the printing control system using a simple touch panel. And the switching from straight printing to perfecting is carried automatically by a simple touch. This automatic switching eliminates the need for troublesome manual switching procedure as well as causing machine damage as the result of operation error. The switch from straight printing to perfecting only takes about one minute. The result is high productivity even for printing of multiple small lots.
